The Paul Scherrer Institute PSI is the largest research institute for natural and engineering sciences within
Switzerland. We perform cutting-edge research in the fields of future technologies, energy and climate, health
innovation and fundamentals of nature. By performing fundamental and applied research, we work on sustainable solutions
for major challenges facing society, science and economy. PSI is committed to the training of future generations.
Therefore, about one quarter of our staff are post-docs, post-graduates or apprentices. Altogether, PSI employs 2300
    people.
The PSI Laboratory of Particle Physics pursues fundamental research, addressing up to date questions in modern,
accelerator-based particle physics. We build and operate complex experimental facilities in which experiment-specific
semiconductor detectors and detector readout chips (ASICs) play an extremely important role.
Our Electronics for Measuring Systems group covers the whole chain of design and realization of high-end custom
electronics. Our group for High Energy Physics is heavily involved with detector developments for the CMS experiment at
the CERN LHC and future colliders. For our activities in the field of next generation semiconductor-based detector
developments we are looking for a multidisciplinary
Electronics or Microelectronics Engineer (ASIC Designer)
    Your tasks

    - Participate in detector developments for particle physics experiments at CERN and at PSI in close cooperation with
other chip designers, physicists, students, and technicians
    - Contribute to the design of detectors and detector readout chips, with a primary focus on digital design, covering
the full flow from behavioral modeling and RTL design to physical synthesis, timing analysis, optimization, and sign-off
    - Contribute to practical laboratory work, including electronics development, chip integration, testing, and
    characterization
    - Supervise an electronics apprentice in their 3rd or 4th year of vocational training, who will support you in your
    projects

    Your profile

    - Master in Electronics or Microelectronics Engineering or equivalent
    - Solid experience in digital ASIC design ( Verilog, System Verilog or VHDL)
    - Knowledge of at least one scripting or data analysis languages ( Python, MATLAB, ...)
    - Openness to innovative, unconventional approaches and trying new things, as well as learning additional skills
    - Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
