Job Description
Lead Engineer – Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS) & Plant Chemistry
About This Role
If you want your engineering expertise to directly shape the quality and compliance of power generation at a global
scale, this role puts you at the center of it. As a Lead Engineer for Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS)
and Plant Chemistry at GE Vernova, you will own the full technical lifecycle of critical environmental and process
chemistry systems — from early concept and specification through to commissioning, handover, and field troubleshooting.
Your work will help ensure that power plants around the world operate cleanly, safely, and in compliance with the
environmental standards that matter to communities and regulators alike. This is a technically broad role with real
ownership, international reach, and the opportunity to make a measurable difference in how energy is generated and
monitored.
What You'll Do
- Lead the engineering and technical delivery of CEMS, sampling, dosing and plant chemistry systems across the full
project lifecycle, from tender support through commissioning and operational troubleshooting.
- Develop system architectures, functional specifications, component specifications, and procurement documents for
plant chemistry packages — including dosing, sampling, water treatment, wastewater treatment, water/steam cycle
chemistry specification and CEMS.
- Prepare and maintain key engineering documentation, including Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs),
calculation notes, interface documents, and technical dossiers.
- Evaluate and manage technical documentation from suppliers and align with stakeholders - customers, project teams,
and internal functions.
- Provide hands-on technical support during project execution, site commissioning, and troubleshooting activities —
including occasional international travel on short notice.
- Contribute to continuous improvement, standardization, and development initiatives within the plant chemistry scope,
including laboratory analyses in support of new technology development.
Who You Are
You are a technically rigorous engineer who takes ownership of complex systems and works confidently across both
detailed design and field environments. You communicate clearly across multidisciplinary and global teams, and you
bring a practical, quality-focused mindset to everything you deliver.
Required
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related field — or
equivalent professional experience (see Education note below)
- Demonstrated knowledge of emissions monitoring systems, including gas analyzers, instrumentation, and package
engineering
- Strong experience within plant chemistry systems in the power generation industry, including dosing, sampling, water
treatment, wastewater treatment, and water/steam cycle chemistry
- Experience developing technical specifications, reviewing supplier documentation, and supporting procurement and
project execution activities
- Fluency in English (written and spoken)
- Ability to travel to travel internationally on a short notice
Preferred
- Experience in laboratory water analyses, including ion chromatography (IC)
- Background in commissioning support and field troubleshooting of power plant systems
- Familiarity with engineering and drafting tools such as Visio, COMOS, or AVEVA
