The Paul Scherrer Institute PSI is the largest research institute for natural and engineering sciences within
Switzerland. We perform cutting-edge research in the fields of future technologies, energy and climate, health
innovation and fundamentals of nature. By performing fundamental and applied research, we work on sustainable solutions
for major challenges facing society, science and economy. PSI is committed to the training of future generations.
Therefore, about one quarter of our staff are post-docs, post-graduates or apprentices. Altogether, PSI employs 2300

members across technical, scientific and education roles, organized into six groups. The mission of LIN is to provide
technical and scientific support for state-of-the-art experiments using neutron and muon beams produced by the three
large-scale research facilities CHRISP, SINQ and SμS. These facilities are scientifically exploited by the CNM
Laboratories for Particle Physics (LTP), Neutron Scattering and Imaging (LNS), and Muon Spin Spectroscopy (LMU). In
cooperation with these laboratories, LIN develops, implements and coordinates instrumentation projects. LIN also plays
a key role in delivering several CNM large-scale projects, including contributions to the IMPACT, the Quantum Matter
and Materials Discovery Center (QMMC), as well as the preparation of the SINQ++ project.
